So a lot of photographers have a touching tale to tell about their first camera being a hand-me-down from their grandfather, which of course is wonderful... Mine is NOT quite so romantic...
Here it is!
I got my first camera (that I can remember) and took it on a trip to Disneyland with my parents, my aunt and uncle and my two cousins. It was bright pink and I LOVED it, my cousins had matching blue ones, unfortunately halfway through the vacation DURING a performance by the Ninja Turtles, I lost my hold on the strap and dropped it on the ground, of course it broke. The worst part about it was that I couldn't take a picture of April O'Neil that was just coming on stage for the first time. I was DEVASTATED! Of course, my two cousins got their shots, but I knew that mine would have been better, and not only that, but I wanted it to be a part of my album and a part of my memories to share. It's seems quite silly now to have been so upset about the Ninja Turtles, but what I am taking a long time to say, is that I want you to flip through your albums 25 years from now with your family and friends and tell the story of that time in your life... It doesn't have to be a monumental day, any day in your life.
For me, the best part of this job is watching
the faces of my friends when they see their photos, and to know that months and years down the road they can look back and remember, not necessarily me the photographer but (hopefully) what was a great time in their lives.
I really put 100% of myself into creating
something that is really special and something that portrays who you are.
